Top Gastroenterologist Dr. Hou Ming-chih Appointed Superintendent at Ton-General Hospital

Ton-General Hospital has recruited Dr. Hou Ming-chih, a distinguished figure in gastroenterology and hepatology, to lead its Wugu and Shalu campuses. Dr. Hou, formerly the vice superintendent and head of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department at Taipei Veterans General Hospital, will officially join the medical team and commence his clinical practice in September.

Dr. Hou brings extensive experience from his long tenure at Taipei Veterans General Hospital, where he also directed the Internal Medicine Department and the Endoscopic Diagnostic and Treatment Center. He is a professor at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University's School of Medicine. His expertise spans diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, liver cirrhosis, portal hypertension, esophageal varices, and the diagnosis and endoscopic removal of early-stage gastrointestinal cancers.

His arrival bolsters Ton-General Hospital's Gastroenterology and Hepatology department, which already includes seasoned physicians like Dr. Chen Tsung-mien and Dr. Huang Peter. This "three-pillar" team will enhance the hospital's capabilities in treating liver and biliary diseases, digestive disorders, and performing high-level therapeutic endoscopy and early cancer treatments.

This strategic recruitment follows the hospital's earlier success in bringing Dr. Ou Yen-chuan, former head of Urology at Taichung Veterans General Hospital, to lead its research and innovation efforts. The addition of these prominent specialists signals Ton-General Hospital's commitment to developing advanced, precise, and specialized medical services. Dr. Hou is scheduled to see patients on Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons starting September 1st, providing much-needed specialized care to residents in central Taiwan who previously might have had to travel to medical centers in the north.
