‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Actress and Singer Dua Lipa’s Husband Star in Rom-Com ‘One Night Stand’

A new romantic comedy, "One Night Stand," is set to captivate audiences with a unique premise: a fantastical New York City where, for one night each year, all single individuals are permitted to engage in casual sexual encounters. The film stars Monica Barbaro, known for her role as Phoenix in "Top Gun: Maverick," and Tom Turner, who recently married pop star Dua Lipa. They play two strangers who meet amidst the city's annual night of revelry, both seeking genuine love rather than a fleeting encounter. Barbaro portrays Ellie, a character filled with romantic aspirations, while Turner plays Owen, who has recently been dumped by his girlfriend. Despite the city's permissive atmosphere, Ellie and Owen are among the few who believe in true love and experience an immediate connection upon meeting. However, fate intervenes with a series of unexpected twists and turns, causing them to repeatedly miss each other. As they navigate the city's streets, their paths cross and diverge, highlighting their growing realization that what they truly desire might be right in front of them. Directed and co-written by Will Gluck, the film continues his signature romantic comedy style. The cast also includes veteran actress Molly Ringwald, LeVar Burton, Maya Hawke, and Julia Fox, adding further star power to the production. "One Night Stand" is scheduled for release in Taiwan on August 19, coinciding with the Qixi Festival.
