Intensified preparations are underway for a new round of US-Iran negotiations in Switzerland, aimed at reaching a potential nuclear agreement and ending hostilities in West Asia. US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff is en route to Switzerland, joining Senior Adviser Jared Kushner, who is already present for the anticipated talks.

The negotiations, initially scheduled for Friday, were postponed amidst escalating tensions and strikes between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. However, a ceasefire brokered by the United States and Qatar, with Iran's involvement, took effect Friday morning, potentially creating a more conducive environment for diplomatic engagement.

While a new date for the talks has not been formally set, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is reportedly planning to travel to Switzerland on Saturday. Sources indicate that Tehran views the ceasefire in Lebanon as a critical factor, potentially determining the future of the US-Iran negotiations. Iranian officials have stressed the importance of the ceasefire holding firm before committing to travel.

Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, has also arrived in Switzerland, reflecting Qatar's significant role as a mediator between Washington and Tehran. The Swiss Foreign Ministry confirmed the postponement of the talks but reiterated its readiness to facilitate the discussions, which were also expected to involve Pakistan.
