Tour de France: Pogacar keeps yellow jersey, Carapaz enters top 10 after 18th stage

Tadej Pogacar comfortably retained the yellow jersey as leader of the Tour de France following the 18th stage, a mountainous route from Voiron to Orcières Merlette. While the stage was won by Ecuador's Richard Carapaz, the Slovenian rider's overall lead remained unchallenged.

Carapaz secured a notable victory, out-dueling France's Valentin Paret-Peintre in the final kilometers. This win propelled Carapaz into the top 10 of the general classification, moving him up to 10th place overall, 21 minutes behind Pogacar. He replaced Switzerland's Yannis Voisard in the top tier.

Behind the leading duo, the general classification saw little significant movement. Belgium's Remco Evenepoel remains in second place, 4 minutes and 32 seconds adrift of Pogacar. Mexico's Isaac Del Toro and France's Paul Seixas hold third and fourth positions, respectively, maintaining their places from the previous day.

Several French riders are also positioned within the top 10. Lenny Martinez sits in seventh place, followed by Tom Pidcock in eighth, and Jordan Jegat in ninth. The stage's outcome solidified Pogacar's dominance as the race heads into its final stages.
