Toyota's Updated Seven-Seat Innova MPV Spotted Testing, Focus on Versatile Space

Toyota is preparing to launch a facelifted version of its Innova, a versatile seven-seat MPV that remains a strong seller in Southeast Asian markets. Spy shots from India reveal the updated model undergoing road tests, signaling an anticipated debut before the end of the year.

The current third-generation Innova, known for its family-friendly design and spacious interior capable of accommodating three generations, has been on the market since 2022. The upcoming refresh is expected to bring styling tweaks to the exterior and significant upgrades to the interior. While the current model boasts a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch central touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a flexible 2+2+3 seating arrangement, the facelift could introduce enhanced cabin materials and additional features for greater comfort and technological appeal.

High-end trims of the current Innova already offer premium amenities such as second-row captain's chairs with power adjustment and leg rests, a panoramic sunroof, and wireless charging. The facelift is likely to build upon this, aiming to further elevate the passenger experience and maintain the Innova's competitive edge in its segment.

Under the hood, the updated Innova is expected to retain its existing powertrain options: a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine and a 2.0-liter hybrid powertrain. The hybrid variant, paired with an E-CVT transmission, currently delivers a combined output of 186 horsepower and achieves an impressive fuel economy of 20.8 km/L. These established powertrains are likely to be carried over, ensuring continued performance and efficiency for the new model.
