Tractor driver dies in collision with truck in Croatia

A fatal traffic accident occurred in Rajsavac, Croatia, when an 84-year-old tractor driver died after his vehicle collided with a truck. The incident happened around 12:05 PM on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

According to police reports, the elderly driver was operating an unregistered and uninsured tractor equipped with an agricultural machine. He also had an expired driver's license. While attempting to merge into traffic from a bus stop and turn into a driveway, he failed to ensure it was safe to do so. At that moment, a 64-year-old truck driver was overtaking the tractor, resulting in a collision.

The impact caused the tractor to overturn and fall into a roadside ditch. The tractor driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities, including a deputy county prosecutor, conducted an on-site investigation. The state road D51 was closed for over four hours, diverting traffic to alternative routes while the investigation proceeded. Police will submit a special report to the competent state attorney's office.
