Traffic accident: Serious collision with two trucks – A7 remains closed

A serious traffic accident involving two trucks on the A7 motorway near the Walsroder Dreieck in Germany has led to a complete closure of the route in the direction of Hamburg. The collision resulted in injuries to two men, one of whom sustained severe wounds.

According to police reports, the incident occurred when a tire reportedly burst on one of the trucks. The 50-year-old driver of this truck stopped on the hard shoulder. Shortly thereafter, a following 52-year-old truck driver collided with the stationary vehicle for reasons yet to be determined. The impact was forceful enough to push the articulated lorry against the central barrier.

Loaded pipes from the truck breached the container wall and extended into the left lane of the opposing carriageway towards Hannover. The 50-year-old driver suffered minor injuries, while the 52-year-old driver sustained severe injuries. Both were transported to hospitals by ambulance.

Recovery and cleaning operations are anticipated to continue until the late evening hours. Traffic is currently being diverted at the Westenholz exit, leading to several kilometers of congestion. In the direction of Hannover, the left lane remains closed.
