Tragedy as Three Siblings Found Dead on Ondo Farm

Tragedy has struck a family in Akure, Ondo State, after police found three siblings, including 11-year-old twins, dead on a farm near Owena Army Barracks.

The victims were identified as Joshua Jonah, 11, his twin brother Jacob, 11, and their five-year-old sister, Blessing Jonah. They had accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm on Friday, September 4, 2026, but later left to return home.

Their father became concerned after returning home and discovering that the children were missing. Police said a search operation followed, and officers eventually found the bodies on Saturday, September 5, near the bank of a small river within the farm.

The circumstances of the deaths remained unclear as of Sunday. Police spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh said the command had begun efforts to establish what happened. Commissioner Felix Ohagwu ordered a thorough investigation and said police were documenting all available facts and circumstances surrounding the incident.

The command expressed condolences to the family and urged parents and guardians to exercise greater vigilance when children are near rivers, ponds, streams and other bodies of water, saying caution could help prevent avoidable tragedies.
