Tragic incident on Tokyo-Istanbul flight: Istanbul city planner dies

A tragic incident occurred on a Turkish Airlines flight from Tokyo to Istanbul when a passenger fell ill and passed away during the journey. The deceased has been identified as Müge Yorgancı Ozar, a city planner employed by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB).

Despite the medical emergency, the flight continued its route and landed in Istanbul as scheduled, without diverting to an intermediate airport. Cabin crew attempted to provide assistance to the passenger, but their efforts were ultimately unsuccessful.

Following the news of Ozar's death, officials from the İBB expressed their sorrow. Mahir Polat, the Deputy Secretary-General of İBB, shared the news on social media, extending condolences to Ozar's family and loved ones. Buğra Gökce, President of the Istanbul Planning Agency, also issued a statement, remembering Ozar as a colleague.

Müge Yorgancı Ozar's funeral prayer is scheduled to be held on Sunday, August 16, after the midday prayer at Üsküdar Ayazma Mosque. She will be laid to rest in Çamlıca Cemetery.
