Tragic river incident: 15-year-old brother rescued, older brother dies

In Bingöl's Genç district, a tragic incident occurred in the Murat River when two brothers were swept away by its rising currents. While the 15-year-old sibling was rescued by local citizens, his 30-year-old brother lost his life in the incident.

The two brothers, identified as Mehmet Hazar (30) and N. Hazar (15), entered the Murat River with the intention of crossing to the opposite bank. However, the increased water flow and strong currents proved too powerful, pulling both siblings into the water.

Alerted by the situation, nearby citizens managed to rescue the younger brother, N. Hazar. Tragically, Mehmet Hazar was carried away by the current and disappeared. Emergency teams, including AFAD and firefighters, were dispatched to the scene following reports of the incident.

An extensive search operation was conducted along the riverbanks and in the water. After a considerable effort, the body of Mehmet Hazar was discovered. His remains were transported to the Genç State Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
