Transcorp Power appoints Maryam Bala Shehu to its board

Transcorp Power Plc has appointed Maryam Bala Shehu as an independent non-executive director, effective Sept. 1, 2026. Shareholders will vote to ratify the appointment at the company’s next annual general meeting.

Shehu has nearly three decades of experience in Nigeria’s energy sector. More than two decades of her career involved senior leadership roles at TotalEnergies exploration and production subsidiaries in Nigeria, along with a secondment to Nigeria LNG Limited.

At TotalEnergies, she held leadership positions covering finance, economics, gas commercial operations and enterprise administration. Her roles included general manager for deepwater administration and deputy general manager for gas commercial operations.

Shehu also served as a board member and alternate board member of the Gas Aggregation Company of Nigeria. She gained finance and audit oversight experience through advisory committee roles within the Nigeria LNG Group and Brass LNG entities. She is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, the Energy Institute in the United Kingdom, and the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators.
