Rep. Jason Crow said he had received no briefing on reports that several dozen senior U.S. military officials, including combatant commanders, underwent polygraph tests as part of a sweeping Pentagon leak investigation.

I haven't been briefed anything about this. I'm a senior member of the Armed Services Committee and the Intelligence Committee. We haven't received any information; it's just been public reports.

Crow, a senior member of the House Armed Services and Intelligence committees, told CBS News that he had seen only public reports. He said stopping leaks and protecting classified information was important and that he would support those efforts.

But he sharply criticized the broader environment created by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Crow said Hegseth had purged more than 80 generals and admirals, representing the top 10% of the military chain of command. He also cited a 25-year low in the number of women on the promotion list and accused Hegseth of creating a climate of fear.

This is part of his effort to create fear and to clamp down on information coming out of the Pentagon.

Crow linked the reported polygraph testing to what he described as an effort to suppress information from the Pentagon. He pointed to the firing of the editor of Stars and Stripes, an independent newspaper founded in 1861 for U.S. service members. “This is the broader trend of them not wanting anybody, including members of Congress, to understand what’s going on,” he said.

Crow also said precision munitions stockpiles had been depleted and were very low. He argued that such weapons take a long time to produce and criticized the president for starting a war without a plan or strategy.
