Transfer market news: Mateta courted by Premier League, Man City set to loan Marmoush to rival

Premier League clubs are reportedly circling potential transfer targets as the summer transfer window nears its close. Aston Villa has expressed interest in Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, according to The Athletic. The English club is reportedly preparing an offer, though it may fall short of Crystal Palace's valuation.

Mateta, 29, had a productive season with Palace, scoring 12 goals in 32 Premier League appearances. His potential move to Aston Villa could offer him Champions League football, a prospect that might appeal after a previous transfer to AC Milan fell through.

Meanwhile, Manchester City is set to continue its squad trimming with Omar Marmoush reportedly on the verge of joining Tottenham Hotspur. Sources indicate a loan deal with an obligation to buy is close to completion, with Spurs prepared to spend around 70 million euros for the versatile Egyptian forward. Marmoush, 27, joined City a year and a half ago for a similar fee.

In other transfer news, Atletico Madrid is exploring options to strengthen its attack and has made inquiries about Juventus forward Jonathan David.
