Transfers: Mainz loans reserve goalkeeper Rieß to Fortuna Düsseldorf

Bundesliga club FSV Mainz 05 has extended the contract of their reserve goalkeeper, Lasse Rieß, by one year. The 24-year-old will spend the upcoming season on loan at Fortuna Düsseldorf, a third-division club, to gain valuable match experience.

Rieß, a product of Mainz's youth academy, is expected to take on the number one jersey at Fortuna Düsseldorf following the departures of Florian Kastenmeier and Marcel Lotka. This move is seen as a significant step in his development.

During his time at Mainz, Rieß made six appearances in the Bundesliga and one in the Conference League, in addition to numerous games for the U23 team. The loan to Fortuna Düsseldorf is intended to provide him with the consistent playing time needed to further his career.
