Transit cargo not meeting legal requirements denied entry into Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan's phytosanitary authorities have blocked a transit shipment of flower seedlings destined for Uzbekistan due to incomplete documentation. The incident occurred at the "Ken-Sai" quarantine phytosanitary control point, where officials inspected a consignment of 7,250 seedlings representing 24 different flower varieties.

The seedlings were being transported in transit from the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Uzbekistan. During the inspection, it was determined that the required phytosanitary documents accompanying the cargo were not fully provided, failing to meet the necessary legal and regulatory standards for transit.

Consequently, the import of these seedlings into Uzbekistan was prohibited. Due to the inability to return the shipment to its country of origin, the Kyrgyz authorities, in collaboration with the Jalal-Abad Customs and Border Services, proceeded with the disposal of the entire consignment on August 7, 2026. This action was carried out in accordance with established procedures for such cases.

The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry (Minselxoz) reported that these measures are part of ongoing efforts to prevent the introduction and spread of quarantine pests and harmful organisms. The objective is to ensure the overall phytosanitary security of the country and safeguard its agricultural and natural resources from potential threats carried by unregulated imports or transit goods.
