TransJamaican Highway toll rates to increase from August 1

Drivers on Jamaica's TransJamaican Highway will soon pay more to travel, as toll rates are set to increase beginning August 1. However, users of the T-Tag system will be shielded from these immediate hikes, maintaining their current rates until October 31.

TransJam Highways stated the adjustments are necessary to sustain the high standard of service customers expect. While T-Tag rates remain unchanged for the first 90 days of the increase, all other motorists paying without a T-Tag will see higher charges across various toll plazas and vehicle classes starting August 1.

For example, at the Portmore toll plaza, Class 1 vehicles will go from the current T-Tag rate of $370 to $400 without a tag. Class 2 vehicles will pay $790, and Class 3 vehicles will pay $1,195. Similar increases are planned for the Spanish Town, Vineyards, May Pen, Toll Gate Mainline, and Toll Gate Ramp plazas.

TransJam Highways is actively promoting the T-Tag system, offering packages that include a sticker, swipe card, and $500 in opening credit for those who sign up before August 1. These users can lock in their current T-Tag rates until October 31, when T-Tag rates themselves will also be adjusted upwards across all plazas and vehicle classes.
