Trentino electoral law: Forza Italia says rules shouldn't target Fugatti

Forza Italia has declared that electoral rules in Trentino should not be crafted to target or exclude specific individuals, such as the regional governor Fugatti. Diego Rossato, the provincial commissioner for Forza Italia, asserted that initiating reforms with an "anti-Fugatti clause" would be the "worst method" for institutional change, prioritizing the exclusion of a political opponent over the interests of autonomy and citizens.

Rossato stressed that electoral laws should establish equal rules for all and focus on the future, rather than being designed to sideline political adversaries. He argued that when rules are intended to hinder an opponent rather than ensure fair competition, it not only harms an individual but also restricts citizens' right to express themselves freely.

The Patt party also addressed the ongoing debate, with its secretariat reaffirming its stance. They stated that the electoral law reform, currently being worked on by their group leader Maria Bosin, is not designed to favor or oppose anyone but is intended for Trentino's benefit. The party indicated that discussions on this matter would occur exclusively within appropriate party forums, not in the press, to avoid political ambiguity or positioning.

Concluding its statement, the Patt party emphasized its integrity, stating, "We are not a political subject for sale." This declaration aims to distance the party from any perception of being influenced by external political pressures or opportunism in the electoral reform discussions.
