Trial begins for suspect in 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur

Jury selection began this week for the trial of Duane "Keffe D" Davis, who is accused of masterminding the 1996 murder of rap icon Tupac Shakur. Shakur, also known as 2Pac, was fatally shot on September 7, 1996, in Las Vegas after being fired upon from a passing vehicle. He died several days later from his injuries at the age of 25.

The case remained unsolved for decades until Davis, now 63, was arrested and charged in 2023. Prosecutors allege that while Davis did not fire the fatal shots himself, he procured the weapon and was present in the Cadillac from which the shooting occurred.
