Tricked: Fake window cleaner forgets shoes, leading to arrest

Berlin police apprehended a 15-year-old suspect who allegedly posed as a window cleaner to steal from an 88-year-old woman. The incident occurred in the Pankow district of Berlin.

According to the police's initial investigation, the teenager approached the elderly woman, claiming to be her neighbor's grandson, and offered to clean her windows. While inside the apartment, he allegedly asked to use the phone and then went to the bedroom unnoticed. He subsequently left the apartment, taking the woman's wallet containing cash.

The 88-year-old victim immediately contacted the police. Shortly after, the suspect returned to the building, ringing the doorbell to retrieve his shoes, which he had left in the hallway. The presence of police officers at the scene allowed them to immediately arrest the alleged trickster.

Following notification of his mother, the teenager was released. The case has been handed over to the department responsible for trick theft and fraud at the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) for further investigation.
