Troops rescue 12 civilians and foil abduction attempts in Zamfara

Nigerian troops rescued 12 civilians in two separate operations in Zamfara State after confronting terrorists involved in abductions, the military said.

In Kaura Namoda, troops responded to a distress call after terrorists entered a residence at Tsohon Tasha. The soldiers engaged the attackers and forced them to abandon six kidnapped civilians before fleeing across a nearby river. The victims were evacuated and later reunited with their families.

In a separate operation in Tsafe Local Government Area, troops monitoring activity along the Main Supply Route saw terrorists trying to intercept a Sharon vehicle at Kwanoni village. Soldiers quickly moved to the area and engaged the group, forcing the terrorists to abandon the attempt and retreat into nearby bush. Six civilians were subsequently rescued.

Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the Joint Task Force's media information officer, described the operations as evidence of Operation Fansan Yamma's commitment to protecting lives and property while restricting terrorist activity across its area of operations. He urged residents to continue providing security agencies with relevant information to support efforts to eliminate terrorist elements in the region.
