Troops rescue 34 kidnap victims, arrest ISWAP informant, recover arms in Nigeria

Nigerian Army troops conducted successful operations across the country, rescuing 34 individuals from kidnappers and apprehending suspected informants linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

In Borno State, troops from Operation HADIN KAI rescued 31 victims along the Buratai-Kamuya road. The swift response followed the detection of ISWAP terrorists abducting civilians. Troops engaged the militants, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee, leaving behind a motorcycle.

Further operations in Adamawa led to the apprehension of a suspected ISWAP informant. In Zamfara, troops repelled terrorists attempting to move rustled cattle. In Kogi, a kidnapped woman and her two children were rescued, having been abducted on July 29.

In the South-east, Operation UDO KA achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting three suspected terrorists connected to a May 4 ambush. Recoveries from terrorist camps in Delta and Imo states included four AK-47 rifles, one FN rifle, a pistol, ammunition, and other military gear, some of which were stolen during the earlier ambush.
