Tropical depression may become typhoon; heat reaches 41C, thunderstorms expected

A tropical depression located in the region poses a risk of developing into a typhoon, according to weather authorities. The system's intensification could bring significant weather changes to the area.

Today, residents are bracing for extreme heat, with temperatures expected to feel as high as 41 degrees Celsius (106 Fahrenheit). The Central Weather Administration forecasts widespread highs between 32 and 35 degrees Celsius (90-95 F), with inland areas, regions near mountains, and parts of eastern Taiwan potentially reaching 36 degrees Celsius (97 F) or higher. UV levels are also predicted to be very high during midday.

In addition to the heat, thunderstorms are anticipated for this afternoon, providing some temporary relief from the high temperatures. However, the overall weather pattern is set to shift starting tomorrow, with changes expected across many parts of the region.

The forecast indicates a period of volatile weather, with the potential for both intense heat and severe storms, alongside the looming threat of a developing typhoon.
