Truck kills pedestrian in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway crash

A fatal accident occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near the Kara Bridge, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. The incident involved a lone Mack truck that reportedly suffered brake failure.

PUNCH Metro learned from the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi, that the accident happened around 12:05 pm on Sunday. Rescue operatives from TRACE, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the police, and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) were dispatched to the scene.

Eyewitness accounts suggest the Mack truck, identified by license plate GDD 215 XD, lost its brakes before colliding with and killing a pedestrian. The TRACE spokesperson confirmed that the presumed deceased had been transported to a morgue by the FRSC.

The truck and its container were subsequently removed from the roadway and towed to the Adigboluja Police Station for further investigation. The accident caused significant traffic disruption on the expressway, with traffic operatives working to manage the situation. Akinbiyi extended condolences to the family of the deceased.
