Truck search uncovers 12.6 million Lira worth of drug precursor material

Authorities in İskenderun have intercepted a significant quantity of synthetic cannabinoid raw material, with an estimated street value of 12.6 million Turkish Lira (approximately $400,000 USD). The seizure occurred on May 24 during a routine operation aimed at combating drug trafficking.

During a search of a truck and its trailer, law enforcement officers discovered a hidden compartment beneath a mattress in the trailer. Inside this compartment, they found 4,200 grams of synthetic cannabinoid raw material. Officials estimate that this quantity could be processed to produce approximately 420 kilograms of the finished drug.

The operation was conducted by the Provincial Police Directorate as part of ongoing efforts to prevent the use and trade of illicit substances. The discovery highlights the persistent challenges faced by law enforcement in disrupting drug supply chains.

Following the seizure, a suspect identified by the initials İ.Ç. was apprehended. The individual was subsequently brought before judicial authorities and remanded into custody pending further investigation and trial. The case underscores the continuous battle against drug smuggling in the region.
