Trump and Putin Discuss Ukraine War in Phone Call

U.S. President Donald Trump engaged in a nearly 90-minute phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, offering assistance in resolving the war in Ukraine, according to Yuri Ushakov, Putin's foreign policy advisor.

Ushakov stated that Trump indicated U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would persist in their mediation efforts and are prepared for another visit to Moscow. The conversation between the two presidents focused on the situation in Ukraine, coinciding with an upcoming NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey.

Earlier on Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also reported speaking with Trump. Zelenskyy requested what he described as "American determination" to bring an end to the more than four-year-long war with Russia. He characterized the conversation with Trump as "very good" and noted that "there is a real prospect of bringing this war to an end, and American determination will be of crucial importance."

According to Zelenskyy, he and Trump agreed to continue their discussions at the NATO summit. The report comes as Ukraine seeks decisive international support to conclude the ongoing conflict.
