Trump claims Greenland will be under U.S. control before he leaves office

President Donald Trump has once again asserted his belief that Greenland will be under U.S. control before he leaves office in January 2029. This long-standing ambition for the Danish semi-autonomous territory has resurfaced, signaling a continued focus on its acquisition.

Trump's pursuit of Greenland has previously caused friction with European allies, who consider the territory an integral part of Denmark. His administration even imposed tariffs on goods from several European nations, including Denmark, in response to perceived resistance. Tensions later eased following a meeting with NATO chief Mark Rutte, which reportedly established a framework for a future deal regarding Greenland.

During a recent audio interview, Trump responded to a prediction that Greenland would be under U.S. operational control by the end of his term, stating, "You'll be right." He emphasized Greenland's importance from the U.S. perspective, suggesting European nations also recognize its significance. Trump has consistently argued that acquiring Greenland is crucial for U.S. national security, warning that failure to do so could lead to acquisition by rivals like Russia and China.
