Trump Claims Peace Deal with Iran, Tehran Denies Agreement

U.S. President Donald Trump announced Thursday he had canceled planned attacks against Iran, reversing a decision made just hours earlier to launch a third night of strikes. Trump declared on social media that peace talks had reached the highest levels of Iranian leadership and that "final details" had been approved by all parties involved.

Trump stated in a post on his platform Truth that the negotiations had yielded significant progress. He listed the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and Egypt among the nations whose leadership had approved the agreement in concept and detail. He added that U.S. sanctions on Iranian ports would remain until the "transaction" was complete, with the signing to be announced soon.

However, Iranian state media swiftly denied any agreement or memorandum of understanding with Washington. The conflicting reports caused immediate market reactions, with oil prices dropping to $90 a barrel and the Nasdaq index rising 2.01%. Trump's announcement followed a period of escalating threats and retaliatory actions, including U.S. strikes and Iranian projectile launches against military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain.
