Trump critic Tucker Carlson wants to start a third party

Former Trump supporter and prominent media figure Tucker Carlson has announced his intention to help establish a third political party in the United States, signaling a significant break from the Republican Party.

Carlson, who recently left Fox News, stated in an interview with the Columbia Journalism Review that the U.S. needs a third party and that a "sincere effort" should be made to determine what truly benefits the country. He believes the Republican Party has strayed from its core "America First" principle.

"I am not interested in talking to him," Carlson said, referring to Donald Trump, whom he has not spoken with since the U.S. military action against Iran. Carlson, once a close ally and "consistent defender" of Trump, now feels betrayed by the party's direction.

While Carlson does not consider himself a politician, he has outlined key issues for a potential new party, including a desire to "end all immigration." He has vowed to "do everything he can" to make the formation of a third party a reality.

This development comes amid a challenging period for Donald Trump, whose presidency has faced setbacks, including a Supreme Court ruling against a citizenship law change and the dissolution of a controversial fund. Public support for Trump's presidency has also been low in recent polls.
