In the interim, the task of leading White House press briefings will be shared among senior administration officials. These officials, rather than members of the White House press and communications staff, will step up to the podium. White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles is reportedly overseeing the selection process, but it remains fluid.

While Republican commentator Scott Jennings' name had been mentioned as a possibility, sources indicate he is unlikely to be the final choice. Leavitt's entire communications team will remain in place and will report to Communications Director Steven Cheung. Her executive assistant, Kieghan Nangle, is transitioning to a role as press wrangler.

Leavitt announced her departure two weeks ago via Truth Social, stating she would return to MAGA Inc., Trump's super PAC. She plans to continue serving as a top outside adviser to the president and anticipates involvement in unannounced future activities.
