Trump meets Zelenskyy, Netanyahu amid wars in Iran, Ukraine

During his meeting with President Zelenskyy, discussions centered on critical defense matters, specifically licenses for the production of Patriot missile interceptors, which are vital for Ukraine's defense against Moscow. Zelenskyy described the meeting as "good" and expressed gratitude for U.S. support. He also noted that they discussed ideas to help Ukraine and the importance of reinvigorating diplomatic processes to advance peace. The leaders last met earlier in July on the sidelines of a NATO summit, where Trump announced the U.S. would permit Ukraine to build its own Patriot missiles.

The president and I discussed licenses for Patriot interceptor production and several other ideas that could help. We also spoke about diplomacy – it's important that the diplomatic process be reinvigorated. Our teams will arrange the details of their further communication. I am grateful to the United States for its firm support.

Following the meeting with Zelenskyy, Trump met with Prime Minister Netanyahu. This was their first known face-to-face encounter since the U.S. and Israel initiated their war with Iran. While the White House and Israeli officials had not released a readout of this meeting, it occurred amid a period where Trump has appeared to distance himself from Netanyahu, despite previously being a strong supporter. Trump has called Netanyahu a "good wartime president" but has been non-committal about his future leadership and has advised him to adopt a "softer touch" and be "more responsible with respect to Lebanon."

In a separate interview with Fox News on Tuesday morning, Trump addressed reports that Netanyahu might discuss information related to Iran's underground nuclear site, Pickaxe Mountain. Trump asserted that he did not need Netanyahu to inform him about the situation, suggesting that Netanyahu's intention was to ensure his continued involvement. Both meetings were closed to reporters.
