Trump on Iran School Deaths: 'Mistakes Happen... Nobody Did This Intentionally'

U.S. President Donald Trump addressed a tragic attack on an Iranian school that reportedly killed more than 100 children, mostly girls, during the first day of the war.

A reporter from The New York Times questioned Trump at a press conference following the G7 summit in France about whether anyone in his administration would be held accountable, given the escalating conflict with Iran. Trump called the question "strange" at this stage, stating that if it was a mistake, "mistakes happen." He added that "nobody did this intentionally."

Trump emphasized that tragedies occur in wartime and drew a parallel to the numerous American casualties he attributes to Iran. "I guess you would then have to ask what about the thousands of soldiers they blew up when they opened a car door? What about the thousands of people that Iran killed?" he stated. He mentioned that the incident is under investigation and suggested that Pete Hegseth might have more information as they are looking into it.

The U.S. Department of Defense has stated that a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the tragedy is underway. However, an official report has not yet been released, even three and a half months after the event, with the case still listed as under investigation.
