Trump Poll Shock: Two in Three Americans Disapprove

A University of Massachusetts Amherst poll found broad dissatisfaction with Donald Trump’s performance, with nearly two-thirds of respondents saying they disapproved of the president.

The survey questioned 1,000 adults between Aug. 21 and 26. Thirty-two percent approved of Trump’s overall performance, while 64% disapproved and 3% remained undecided.

Views of his Iran policy were also negative. Twenty-six percent approved of the United States’ recent attacks on Iran, compared with 54% who disapproved. Fifty-five percent agreed that attacking Iran had been a mistake, while 27% disagreed.

Respondents gave Trump particularly weak marks for managing the war with Iran. Twenty-five percent viewed his handling positively, while 68% said it was not very good or not good at all. His inflation policies won support from 22%, while 75% expressed the opposite view. A March poll by the same university found that 62% were dissatisfied with Trump’s performance and 63% disapproved of his position on Iran.
