Trump rejects sending more Patriot missiles to Ukraine

During a meeting at the White House last week, U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly turned down a request from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for more Patriot missile shipments. The request came amid continued Russian attacks on Ukraine, with Zelenskyy seeking the advanced air defense system's interceptor missiles to bolster Ukraine's defenses before the winter season.

Sources familiar with the matter indicated that Trump categorically rejected Zelenskyy's plea, leaving Ukraine without a key means to combat Russian ballistic missiles. The decision reportedly stems from limited American interceptor stockpiles. According to a CNN report, the U.S. has expended approximately 65 percent of its Patriot interceptor missile stockpile during its military campaign against Iran.

Recognizing the potential rejection of direct missile shipments, Zelenskyy also inquired about obtaining a license for Ukraine to produce Patriot missiles domestically.
