Trump's Departing Press Secretary Joins Political Organization

Karoline Leavitt, the White House Press Secretary, is departing her position to rejoin Maga Inc., a political action committee (PAC) dedicated to supporting President Donald Trump. Leavitt confirmed her move to journalists aboard Air Force One, stating she will return to the organization where she previously worked from 2022 to 2024.

Maga Inc. is a PAC, which allows it to collect unlimited funds for various political activities. According to Reuters, PACs can use these funds to influence elections through advertising, provided they do not coordinate directly with candidates or official campaigns. Leavitt had also been part of Trump's campaign team after her initial tenure with Maga Inc.

Leavitt, who is 28 years old, confirmed that she and her family will continue to reside in Washington D.C. "You will still see me around all the time," she told reporters. Maga, an acronym for Make America Great Again, is a well-known slogan associated with Trump. While Leavitt previously served as a spokesperson for Maga Inc., her exact role upon returning is not yet clear.

Leavitt announced her departure from the White House on August 12, after holding the position for 18 months. She recently became a mother for the second time in May. Leavitt explained her decision by stating she cannot be the best mother possible while dedicating the "constant time, energy, and attention" required by the press secretary role. She holds the distinction of being the youngest White House Press Secretary ever appointed. When asked about a successor, President Trump remarked that he has "never had so many job applications."
