Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary for U.S. President Donald Trump, is stepping down from her role, the president announced on his social media platform, Truth Social. Trump stated that Leavitt is leaving to dedicate more time to her family, a decision he fully understands and respects.

Leavitt, 28, began her White House tenure at the start of Trump's second term in January 2025. She recently returned from maternity leave, having given birth to a daughter on May 1. She and her husband have a son.

Trump praised Leavitt as one of his most trusted aides and "one of the best White House press secretaries in the history of the office." He thanked her for her "good work." During her time as press secretary, Leavitt engaged with smaller online media outlets that were more favorable to the president's policies, and she sometimes had a contentious relationship with larger media organizations, mirroring the president's own interactions.
