Trump says six arrested for vandalism at Washington's Reflecting Pool

President Donald Trump stated Tuesday that six people have been arrested and seven others summoned to court in connection with alleged vandalism at the Reflecting Pool on the National Mall. Trump described the damage as a "deliberate and criminal act" on his social media platform, Truth Social.

According to the president, the vandalism involved "numerous cuts" along the pool's edge, extending over a significant distance, apparently made with a sharp knife or razor blades. He also noted that a section of the pool's bottom was cut and forcefully removed, leaving jagged edges. Trump emphasized the effort required to cause such damage, suggesting it likely occurred under the cover of night.

The Reflecting Pool, situated at the base of the Abraham Lincoln Memorial, recently underwent renovations. Shortly after being refilled in June, its water turned a deep green due to an algae bloom. This project is one of several Trump wants completed in Washington ahead of the United States' 250th-anniversary celebrations on July 4th.

Trump mentioned that large areas of grass are also being replaced. He indicated that the Reflecting Pool would be drained either just before or after July 4th to carry out the final repairs. Legal proceedings are underway to determine the full details of the incident, and no convictions have been made.
