In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that Iran and other regional countries had requested he halt the military offensive, as the groundwork for a settlement had been laid. Despite the optimistic tone, Trump cautioned that U.S. forces are prepared to respond if negotiations falter. He stated that Washington retains the capability to launch an offensive with "a level of military terror, force, and power not seen since World War II." This announcement marks another shift in a conflict characterized by diplomatic progress followed by rapid setbacks. Since the war began on February 28, Trump has announced pauses in bombings on several occasions to facilitate negotiations that later failed, leading to new military offensives.

This time, however, the proposal appears more comprehensive. According to a regional official involved in mediation efforts, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the plan involves the United States and Iran returning to the negotiating table to resolve issues that hindered previous agreements. The framework includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz, halting attacks across the region, including Iranian-backed militia offensives against Arab Gulf states and Jordan, and lifting the U.S. naval blockade on Iran, enabling Tehran to fully resume oil exports. The official clarified that a definitive agreement is not yet in place and mediation is ongoing.
