Trump threatens Iran nuclear site, vows to handle Red Sea blockade

Former U.S. President Donald Trump declared that the United States would respond if Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi rebels proceed with their threat to blockade the Red Sea. Speaking to reporters at the White House alongside Lebanese President Michel Aoun, Trump recalled a previous successful military operation against the Houthis that lasted about 45 days, after which they ceased causing problems for a long period.

The Houthi rebels announced a maritime blockade targeting Saudi Arabia, warning shipping companies against docking at Saudi ports. The Red Sea has served as a crucial alternative route since the outbreak of war in February, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. A successful blockade by the Houthis could disrupt a significant portion of Middle Eastern oil exports and lead to a surge in global oil prices.

However, Trump emphasized that the U.S. is not interested in talks until Iran is prepared to engage meaningfully.
