Trump: U.S.-Initiated Board of Peace Reaches Deal for Hamas Disarmament in Gaza

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a significant agreement for the "complete disarmament" of Hamas and other militant groups operating in the Gaza Strip. Trump revealed on his Truth Social platform that a U.S.-initiated "Peace Council" successfully brokered this deal, which he described as a "monumental step toward lasting peace and security."

This agreement is a critical step towards Gaza finally being governed by a new Palestinian government that will work closely with the Board of Peace to help the Palestinian people. At the same time, Israel will have the security it deserves, with Gaza no longer used as a base for terror attacks.

The agreement, hailed by Trump as a "major milestone" in his 20-Point Plan for Gaza, is intended to facilitate Gaza's governance by a new Palestinian administration that will collaborate closely with the Peace Council. Simultaneously, it aims to provide Israel with the security it requires, ensuring Gaza is no longer utilized as a base for terrorist activities. Trump extended thanks to mediators Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey for their role in achieving this breakthrough.

According to Trump's announcement, the disarmament process will occur in structured phases. Upon completion of the disarmament, Israeli forces are slated to withdraw from the region. An international stabilization force is expected to partner with a newly established Palestinian police force to maintain security for residents of Gaza and its neighboring areas. This development follows reports of negotiators in Cairo agreeing on a 15-point roadmap for Hamas' disarmament, though amendments were still being discussed.
