President Donald Trump unveiled the new Air Force One on Friday, showcasing a dramatically redesigned presidential aircraft that was a gift from Qatar. The jumbo jet, a converted Boeing 747, replaces the iconic robin's egg blue exterior with a bolder navy blue underbelly and a red stripe, featuring the presidential seal and a large American flag.

"This plane was transformed into a flying White House at a level of luxury that nobody has ever seen before," Trump declared from Joint Base Andrews, stepping off the aircraft as his signature song, "God Bless the USA," played. He confirmed the new jet would be used for his upcoming trip to the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, and potentially for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in China.

The Qatari-gifted aircraft will serve as a "bridge" until new presidential planes, ordered directly from Boeing, are delivered, a process currently slated for 2028. The original delivery schedule for these new planes was 2024, but they have faced delays. Trump recounted asking the emir of Qatar for the use of one of their planes during a period of logistical challenges.
