Trump unveils new US passport design with his picture

President Donald Trump has revealed a rendering of a new limited-edition U.S. passport designed to mark the nation's 250th anniversary of independence. The passport mock-up, shared on his Truth Social platform, prominently features a stern-faced likeness of Trump and his signature, with the text of the Declaration of Independence in the background. Trump described it as "The U.S.A.'s New Passport, which says, 'Welcome, but be good!'" The image is reportedly based on a portrait by White House photographer Daniel Torok. The opposite page displays a painting of the Declaration of Independence signing in 1776, alongside the text "United States of America 250." The White House also shared the rendering, labeling it "PATRIOT PASSPORT." The State Department, responsible for issuing passports, had previously announced that commemorative passports with "custom artwork" would become available starting July 6. The department did not immediately comment on the Trump-themed passport. This initiative follows Trump's pattern of imprinting his personal brand on government institutions, including the display of his banners outside federal buildings and the planned inclusion of his signature on the one-dollar bill. He would be the first sitting U.S. president to be featured on Americans' travel documents.
