Former U.S. President Donald Trump is strongly advocating for the passage of the Sunshine Protection Act, a bill that would establish Daylight Saving Time as a permanent fixture across the United States. Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to call on Republican senators to allow the bill to proceed, emphasizing that the majority of Americans desire an end to the twice-yearly clock adjustments.

Trump highlighted the inconvenience and expense associated with the current system, noting that cities with large clock towers and various state and local governments incur significant costs annually to adjust their timepieces. He also pointed to recent research suggesting that the stress of these repeated changes negatively impacts health. The former president asserted that eliminating the biannual time shifts and extending daylight into the evening hours could lead to a reduction in robberies, murders, and traffic accidents, particularly those involving pedestrians.

Furthermore, Trump suggested that permanent Daylight Saving Time could decrease the risk of heart disease, strokes, and seasonal depression.
