Truth Social to charge for exclusive access to Trump posts

Donald Trump's media company is introducing a paid subscription service, dubbed 'Truth API,' offering exclusive and faster access to posts from the former president and other key figures on the Truth Social platform. This move mirrors features already available on other social media networks like X.

The service allows subscribers to receive notifications from the platform's 10 most influential accounts more rapidly than standard push notifications. The 'Truth API' uses an Application Programming Interface to enable faster communication between computers, a process significantly quicker than manual monitoring.

However, the initiative has drawn criticism, particularly given Truth Social's role as Trump's primary communication channel, which often includes politically charged messages that can impact financial markets. Critics, including Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren, argue that this paid access creates an unequal playing field, benefiting large, well-capitalized investors over individual traders.

Warren described the service as a "flagrant attempt to profit from the presidency and enrich Wall Street without doing anything to help Americans." Despite these concerns, a legal expert consulted by Reuters indicated that the system does not appear to violate U.S. stock market regulations. The platform's move comes as Trump frequently uses Truth Social to announce market-moving decisions, such as his past imposition and subsequent suspension of tariffs.
