Truth Social to sell priority access to owner Donald Trump's posts

Donald Trump's media company is set to monetize his Truth Social posts by selling priority access to the platform's content. The new service, an automated interface (API), will offer "approved, real-time access to posts from key Truth Social accounts."

This offering is primarily aimed at financial traders and media outlets who rely on split-second information, as markets are already influenced by Trump's social media pronouncements. The service is scheduled to begin on August 1.

Kevin McGurn, interim CEO of Trump Media and Technology Group, stated that markets already react to Truth Social posts. However, the move has drawn sharp criticism. Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren denounced it on X as a "blatant attempt to profit from the presidency and enrich Wall Street while doing nothing to help Americans."

Trump launched Truth Social after being banned from Twitter following the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack. He uses the platform for major political announcements, and selling priority access raises questions about the monetization of his presidency. Similar services are already offered by other social media platforms like X.
