TSMC expansion prompts plans for new TRA station, boosting Kaohsiung real estate

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is driving significant development in Kaohsiung's Nanzih district with the construction of five advanced process fabrication plants. The company is also undergoing environmental impact assessments for further expansion. In response, the Kaohsiung city government is actively collaborating with the central government to improve the road network surrounding the TSMC facilities.

A key infrastructure proposal involves evaluating the feasibility of adding a new Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) station. This station would be located north of the Zuoying High-Speed Rail station as part of a rail elevation project. The Ministry of Transportation and Communications has reportedly acknowledged this plan, pending a formal feasibility study submission by the Kaohsiung city government.

Market analysis indicates that the influx of thousands of engineers to the TSMC plants is already stimulating the local economy. Property prices in the Zuoying High-Speed Rail station area have reportedly reached highs of over NT$600,000 per ping (approximately 3.3 square meters). Improved transportation links are anticipated to further benefit the real estate markets in the surrounding Nanzih and Zuoying areas.
