Tunis municipality tackles sidewalk obstructions in Centre Urbain Nord

The municipality of Tunis is launching a significant offensive to reclaim sidewalks in the Centre Urbain Nord district, aiming to improve pedestrian circulation and the overall urban environment. A working session held at the municipal palace of Kasbah, led by Samah Daldoul, who manages the Tunis municipality, brought together municipal officials and a representative from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

This meeting focused on preparations for the upcoming Mouled celebration (1448 H / 2026). Discussions covered organizational and logistical aspects, emphasizing maintenance and landscaping of mosques and their surroundings to ensure a welcoming atmosphere for worshippers and visitors. The session also aimed to strengthen coordination among stakeholders for the festivities' success while preserving their spiritual and heritage significance.

Concurrently, municipal services have been actively intervening on the ground to clear occupied sidewalks in Centre Urbain Nord. In collaboration with the municipal police, sanitary control agents conducted operations targeting the anarchic occupation of public pathways. The primary goal is to facilitate pedestrian movement and enhance the use of shared spaces.
