Tunisia Adopts Measures to Accelerate Public Projects and Enhance Oversight

Tunisia's government has implemented a series of measures aimed at speeding up public projects and improving national oversight. During a cabinet meeting on June 20, 2026, Prime Minister Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri stressed the strategic importance of these projects for economic growth, social justice, and improved public services.

The Prime Minister highlighted the need for strict and continuous monitoring of all public projects, both ongoing and planned, across the country. She reiterated that these initiatives are crucial for enhancing citizens' quality of life and align with the directives of President Kaïs Saïed to ensure swift and impactful project execution.

These projects constitute a national strategic priority, essential for economic growth, social and territorial justice, as well as improving public services and creating jobs.

Regional governors and officials are now central to the oversight process. They are expected to collaborate closely with central authorities to swiftly address any administrative, technical, or land-related issues hindering project progress. Zaafrani Zenzri urged for rapid problem-solving and the establishment of effective monitoring and performance measurement mechanisms to ensure projects meet deadlines and quality standards.

The cabinet also reviewed the progress of key projects in priority sectors, including infrastructure, renewable energy, health, education, agriculture, and industry. These state-funded projects are considered vital for the nation's economic and social development. The government also called for enhanced project preparation, including thorough feasibility assessments before launch.
