Tunisia and Iraq Eyeing Stronger Economic and Diplomatic Partnership

Tunisia and Iraq are moving to bolster their strategic economic and diplomatic ties, with recent high-level discussions focusing on deepening bilateral cooperation. Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, met with his Iraqi counterpart, Fouad Hussein, in Amman.

The two officials reviewed upcoming meetings and events with the objective of giving new impetus to the bilateral partnership.

The meeting aimed to give new momentum to the partnership between the two nations. Discussions centered on strengthening exchanges in crucial sectors including the economy, trade, investment, health, agriculture, tourism, and culture. Both ministers stressed the importance of continuous consultation to navigate the region's rapidly evolving security and political challenges.

This encounter occurred on the sidelines of the Arab Ministerial Commission for International Action for Al-Qods. It provided an opportunity to acknowledge the deep historical and fraternal bonds connecting Tunisia and Iraq. Both countries reaffirmed their shared commitment to elevating bilateral cooperation to broader horizons.

Addressing the situation in Palestine, Nafti and Hussein reiterated their countries' unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. They called for intensified Arab and international efforts to safeguard the city of Al-Qods, preserve its historical and legal status, and protect its Muslim and Christian holy sites.
