Tunisia appoints Moin Chaabani as national football coach until 2030

Tunisia has appointed Moin Chaabani as the head coach of their national football team, signing him to a four-year contract that will keep him in charge until 2030. The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) announced the decision on Tuesday.

Chaabani takes over from Frenchman Herve Renard, who briefly managed the team during the 2026 World Cup after Sabri Lamouchi was dismissed. Tunisia experienced a difficult World Cup campaign under Renard, losing all their group matches.

The 45-year-old Chaabani is a well-respected figure in African football. He recently left Moroccan club Renaissance de Berkane, whom he led to their first domestic league title and the 2025 CAF Confederation Cup. He also achieved significant success with Tunisian club Esperance, winning two CAF Champions League titles.

This appointment marks Chaabani's first time managing a national team. Tunisia is set to begin its 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign in September, facing Uganda, Libya, and Botswana in Group H. The FTF has appointed seven coaches since 2024, highlighting a period of frequent changes in the team's leadership.
