Tunisia joins international call for cooperation against AI deepfake content

Tunisian representatives have joined an international call for cooperation to combat the proliferation of AI-generated deepfake sexual content. The initiative, organized under the auspices of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), saw participation from delegates of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People (ARP).

During a videoconference, the Tunisian representatives engaged with international counterparts to discuss the growing threat posed by deepfake technology. The primary objective of the meeting was to identify concrete measures and collaborative strategies that parliaments worldwide can implement to counter the creation and dissemination of non-consensual explicit material.

This engagement underscores Tunisia's commitment to addressing emerging digital threats. The ARP's participation signals a proactive stance on protecting individuals, particularly women and children, from the harms associated with deepfake technology, emphasizing the need for a unified global response.
